Transforming New Zealand Dairy Resources into Low-Carbon Hydrogen and Solid Carbon
CH4 Zero is developing an integrated renewable infrastructure platform that converts agricultural biomethane into renewable hydrogen, recovered solid carbon and circular nutrient solutions through advanced engineering, supporting industrial decarbonisation, resource recovery and regional economic development.
The proposed project combines dairy-resource recovery, anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, renewable methane production and advanced methane pyrolysis within a single integrated industrial value chain.
By converting renewable methane into hydrogen and recoverable solid carbon, CH4 Zero NZ aims to create a commercially scalable pathway connecting New Zealand's dairy economy with emerging low-carbon energy and advanced-material markets.
Project Development Objective
To establish a technically robust, commercially bankable and environmentally responsible hydrogen and carbon production platform capable of supporting New Zealand's transition toward a circular, lower-emissions economy.

Target Commercial Operation 2030
